Basics for Eye makeup
Let me start by declaring all eye shapes, sizes and sets are beautiful and everyone can try anything. The purpose of this post is just to make you understand what is your eye shape and how to flatter all eye makeups your way. There are simple tricks that will just make it stand out.
The first step is to determine your eye shape so that we could move forward. Click on the link below it is the simplest way to find out your eye shape.
Things to keep in mind
1 Prepping your eyes-
I know most of us directly apply makeup which is not right as we all have a darker eye region so it’s better to even out your eye area.
2.Brushes-
Bad brush quality or wrong brush causes disaster. I am not saying to buy expensive products but you should invest in the right brushes.
2 Shades-
Different shades will go with your skin tone and eye colors. Your undertones will help to make it easier what are more flattering shades for you.
Let's start: -
1.Almond
Focus- Depth, and Intensity.
Example-Mila Kunis, Aishwarya Rai.
TRY-
Go dramatic
Go mono color
Go for eyeliner with a creamier consistency.
Thin line towards the inner corner of the eye.
Use medium brown or deep bronze eyeshadows.
Using lighter colors for your waterline.
Thick eyeliners as it will make your eyes look smaller.
2.Round Eyes
Focus- Elongate the width.
Example- Alison Brie.
Try-
Defining the lash line
Horizontal wing
The trick is to never use the same colors for your upper lash line if you have round eyes.
Start with a medium to dark shade over the center of your lid, followed by highlighting your inner and outer corners with a lighter shade.
If you want to go for extended wing liner keep the line thinner at the inner corners and thicker at the outer corners.
Keep the lower lash line very minimal by using lighter colors than your top lid.
3.Downturned Eyes
Focus- Enhance outer corner.
Example- Anne Hathaway.
Try-
· lower lash line bare
· Keeping the tail short
Use brown mascara on the bottom lashes instead of black.
Use natural colors.
For a lifted look draw flick at the angle of 45 degrees.
Keep dark colors for the outer section.
Highlighting the brow bone.
The trick is to flip the edge of the eye in upwards by using eyeliner or eyeshadows.
Use bright pencil liner.
4.Monolid Eyes
Focus-Create dimension and definition.
Example-Gemma Chan.
Try-
· Graphic eyeliner
· Smokey eyes
· Gradient effect
For cat eyes, start with thin lining at the inner corner and making it thicker as you go outwards.
For gradient effect start with darker colors on your lash line and use a shimmery, glittery tone outwards.
Your trick is tight lining. when you apply your eyeliner close to your lash line its gives definition to your eyes.
5.Hooded Eyes
Focus-To enhance eyelid space.
Example-Emma Stone.
Try-
· Cut crease, Smokey eyes
· Coloured mascara and liners
In order to achieve your focus what you have to do is use thick liner towards your outer corners.
If you keep the line thin it will not be visible. Also, heavy liners will make your eye small.
In case you are doing cat eyes, the flick should be thick so that it is visible and gives your perfect cat eye for your eyes.
You can bring uniformity if your brows are well maintained
While applying any eye shadow make sure you take it toward your brow bone
You have to apply lighter colors at the inside of your eyes and deeper shades outwards.
Please make sure you open your eyes when you line them as if you keep your eyes closed the liner will be hidden under your lid.
6.Upturned eyes
Focus-enhance symmetry and emphases on the lift.
Example-Kendall Jenner.
Try-
· Thin cat-eye
· Add extra coat of mascara to the lower lash line.
To create symmetry, focus on the lower outer corners where the upper and lower lash line on your eyes.
Eye lining on the upper and lower lash line, but do not extend the liner past outer eyes .
Want to give more definition extend eyeliner on the upper lash line past the outer eyes .
7.Protruding Eyes
Focus-Defining and enhancing your baby doll eyes.
Example- Nicole Richie.
Try-
· Highlighting and contouring
· Add tip mascara
If your goal to small your eyes use the darkest shades.
Matte colors would intensify.
To dramatize your eyes line upper and lower lash lines and make sure they meet each other.
Shadows suit you more than liners.
Let's dig deep:-
Wide Set Eyes
Space between the inner corners > width of one of your eyes.
Neutral matte tone.
Darker shades .
Start with contouring the entire browbone/crease area with neutral tones.
Keep darker color concentrated at the inner corners on your lash lines.
Double brush the inner corner lashes with mascara.
Close Set Eyes
Space between the inner corners < width of one of your eyes.
Try:-
Deeper color and matte shades .
Shimmer shadows .
1. Start with eyeliner in the middle of the lid and extend it out further on the lower and upper lash lines.
2 Then, use shimmer shadows in the inner corner and on your brow bone which will immediately brighten.
Deep Set Eyes
Try:-
Rich colors.
Heavy Mascara.
1. Start with thin tracing your upper lash line and lower lash line.
2. Thicken only the outer corners of your eyes.
Asymmetrical eyes
Do not worry almost everyone’s face is asymmetrical to some extent.
Here is what you can do to balance out the difference:-
1. Take lighter-colored eyeliner pencil start from your inner corner going outwards direction on the lash line.
2 Then on the smaller eye, to make it equally apply a thicker amount of that same liner.
Big eyes
Try
a double-winged eye with a deeper shade.
1. Start with making one flick from your upper lash line.
2. Leave some space and now draw another flick from the edge of your lower lash line parallel to the upper lash line flick.
Small eyes
Lighter color .
Metallic hue, like gold
The idea behind this is, it reflects light and makes your eyes look brighter.
Avoid lining your lower lash line as it shrinks your eye shape.
